Brasil is a very populous country, and the 1.5% growth rate of the population made a significant contribution to GDP growth - however the growth rate of the population is slowing, and the population is ageing, both of which have adverse impacts for economic growth and the fiscal position.Having said that, the increase in GDP per capita, despite the large population growth, is a significant achievement, although Brasil risks a middle income trap.
